Profile

I am a motivated Computer Scientist with 15 years working in the IT defense industry. In my current position, I focus on resolving complex database/replication issues in an enterprise RDBMS environment, training coworkers on database administration best practices, and assisting senior leadership make data-driven decisions by developing detailed reports. After completing my latest project, I am seeking a move to lean into my passion for IaC and DevOps in a DevSecOps Engineer role.

Current Project

NextRead - An author recommendation website

Recently I created NextRead found here, an author recommendation website that finds authors who wrote/are mentioned in book endorsements. This project uses a combination of AWS Step Functions and two Lambda functions that extract out author information from book descriptions extracted from the Google Books API.

Cloud Resume Challenge

I completed the Cloud Resume Challenge from Forrest Brazeal found here. My website is the result of this project, for more information please read my blog post.

This challenge provided an opportunity to learn new technologies through a combination of readings and online classes. A Cloud Guru classes provided the basics and practical experience in employing Python, Terraform and GitHub. The DevOps Handbook and The Unicorn Project by Gene Kim, both provided the framework for my learning of DevOps.

Lead Analytics Report Developer empowering senior management making critical personnel/financial decisions developing these complex reports:

  • Personnel Check-In/Check-Out Report - Series of reports that pinpoint issues and trends through the on-boarding process resulting in average lead time from over 90 days to 11 days
  • Heads Up Display - Series of recurring reports highlighting database/application issues in over 2,500 average incidents per month helping keep our mean time to resolution to less than 3 days
  • Customer Survey Report - Report that displays average customer satisfaction using the customer satisfaction index and illuminates unmet customer services goals
